International Soccer Comes to Tosa!

Our U16 Villagers Blue Team recently had the chance to play an International Friendly against a team from Galway, Ireland.  The U17 Galway Bohemians were in town as part of Milwaukee's Irish Fest celebration which provided the setup for the match at Hart Park in Wauwatosa.

The pre-game featured player introductions, national anthems from both countries and exchanging of gifts.  The game itself was highlighted by good, competitive soccer.  Played under the sun in a day that became progressively warmer and more humid, both teams were able to create chances in the offensive ends.  Half time arrived with the Bohs up 2-nil.  The second half brought additional chances for both teams, but the back of the net was proving difficult to find for Tosa.  Until Judah Buske uncorked a left footed banger from 30 yards out in the 59th minute that just curled over the outstretched hands of the Galway keeper to make it 2-1.

Tosa continued to create some additional opportunities as a result of some creative passing and combo play in the box.  But tight defense from the backline and a few good saves from Galway keeper kept the score at 2-1.   And that's how the game would end.

But the fun wasn't over yet.  Post game brought the team together over food and drinks in the welcomed air conditioned space of Leff's Luckytown.  It was a chance to not only cool off, but to socialize, make new friends and share stories of soccer (football) from different parts of the world.
