TOSA KICKS U16 BLUE ARE PRESIDENTS CUP CHAMPIONS!!

Congratulations to the Tosa Kicks U16 Blue Team for winning the Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association President’s Cup!  They overcame an initial opening round 1-0 heartbreaking loss to United FC (Appleton/Green Bay) to bounce back with victories over Madison 56ers and Lakeshore United (Sheboygan) to make it out of pool play.

The semi-final match had them matched up with defending champions Rush Wisconsin (Middleton). Tosa scored early and held on for a 1-0 win at the Fond du Lac Sports Complex to advance to the Championship Game against Milwaukee Sport Club.

The finals were played at Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee on a cold foggy night.  Tosa had to work around several injuries that left them without their regular goal keeper and only one sub for the entirety of the match, but the girls came ready to play.  After surviving an initial attack from Sport Club, Tosa notched a goal from Meg Dorrington in the 17th minute.  Both teams battled hard on a wet, slick field for the remainder of the first half and into the second, still locked at 1-0.  Tosa’s defensive line held fast and Angelina Terlizzi was able to tally another goal for Tosa in the 70th minute.  Team defense, with a combination of 3 different field players (Annabelle Wooster, Ava Collyard & Terlizzi) rotating through the GK spot continued to do the job against the Sport Club attack fighting off several corner kicks until the final whistle blew with Tosa on top 2-0.

Congratulations Ladies!!!
